It is official!!

I am no longer employed at Thunder Bay Resort. The decision was made to discontinue the Quilter's Retreats due to declining attendance numbers. My boss said that once the economy picks up the retreats may be re-instated. For me this is the first time in 25+ years that I am working at just one job. And so far I am liking it. My other job is that of Township Clerk, an elected position. I will soon begin my 3rd year of a 4 year term. I have been Clerk here for almost 22 years. I have several responsibilities but the one that takes up most of my time is administering elections. We have an election on Tuesday and I have been very busy with that. Once the election is over I will have lots of free time. I am planning to spend time spoiling our 6 and soon to be 7 grandchildren. I hope to get some things caught up here at home that have been ignored for far too long and I plan to do lots of sewing and quilting. I would like to continue with my blog. Any suggestions for a "catchy" title? Please give it some thought and send me suggestions via "comment". Thanks!!

Pam, I like the title of the blog even if it has a different meaning now. Sorry about the decline and you loosing your job. But you are right, now you have more time for the most important things.... family.

Hmm.... how about "one quilter's retreat"? A focus on the art of hand quilted quilts.

I just happened to come across your blog and saw that you work(ed) at a quilter's retreat. I thought to myself, hmm, maybe she has some helpful hints or ideas she can pass along to me. Then I saw that your job there ended. Then I thought, well maybe I would write you and encourage you to use your 5 yrs of running quilt retreats to write a book or maybe even have a webinar regarding retreats. I took a class at market years ago from a woman who ran them for years (she was funny and very informative, although I have forgotten her name). Anyway, I really think that you should consider it! I am part of The Quilt Trade Assoc. and they are constantly looking for new topics and speakers for their webinars. As a quilt shop owner, Bless My Stitches Quilt Shop, in Murphy, NC (www.blessmystitches.com and www.blessmystitches.blogspot.com) I really think that a lot of us shop owners would be interested learning from you. I am a big believer in "not reinventing the wheel", why should I make mistakes and go through troubles when I can learn from yours? I hope that I have inspired you to at least consider the possibility of moving on in your "quilting career". Feel free to contact me if you need any more encouragement at blessmystitch@frontier.com
May all your stitches be a blessing,
Karen
